Maria Clara – Oil on Paper

The skeleton is a common subject in the Mexican culture, going beyond the definition of death. In this oil on paper, the skeleton has become “Maria Clara”, a fine girl dressed in the very traditional costume from the State of Veracruz , located in the Gulf of Mexico.
