Welcome to the fish house!
This is a very whimsical and mysterious piece. It talks about life cycles.
The landscape goes all around the house, and it is painted in oils, the beach is made of real sand, and the fish are paper clay sculptures of albacores.
The art work is half painting, half sculpture, it was born after I made a series of questions about life, and I came to name it “There I was”
As we are watching the piece with its name in our mind we ask:
Who is talking?
Is it us? Is it the fish?
If we are the ones talking, are we thinking of a time when we were at a beach like that, looking at the waves and the sky?
If the fish are talking, are they thinking of a time when they were living in the sea? Are they talking about being caught? About the end of their life?
Where are the fish? At a beach? In fish heaven?
Keep looking at the piece and you will see in the back a curtain, like the ones we see at theaters. The curtain means “Life is just a play” It is up to us to make it a drama, a comedy, a tragedy, a lecture.
Take the opportunity of owning this special, unique, truly contemporary, original art work, just one of its kind!
